Students, I enjoyed reading your responses to last week's blog! The replies were insightful and on target! Good job! Do not forget to comment on previous replies in a positive manner.
For this week, I want you to research Polya's Method of Problem Solving. List the four steps and give a brief explanation to what each step means or implies when solving a problem. Your explanations for each step should be only one to two sentences long. List the source you found your information, whether a website (list the URL address), math book, etc.

Understanding the problem. (Recognizing what is asked for.)
ReplyDelete1. Devising a plan. (Responding to what is asked for.)
2. Carrying out the plan. (Developing the result of the response.)
3. Looking back. (Checking. What does the result tell me? )

ReplyDelete1. Understand the problem- What is the unknown? what is the data? whats is the condition?
ReplyDelete2. Devising a plan- Have you seen it before? Or have you seen the same problem in sa slightly different form?
3. Carrying out the plan- Check each step? Can you see clearly that the step is correct?
4. Looking back- Can you check the result? can you check the argument?

1. Understanding the problem. What are we looking for how do we get the answer?
ReplyDelete2. Devising a plan. What should we do to figure the problem out?
3. Carrying out the plan. Working out the problem setp by step to get the answer.
4. Looking back. This step is reviewing and checking your results.

1: Understand the problem. What you are asked to find out and ask yourself things like, do you understand everything and is there enough information.
ReplyDelete2: Devise a plan. Find a stratagey that is correctly used for the type of problem and what you need to do.
3: Carry out the plan. Follow out with your plan until you get it or change your plan if neccesary.
4: Look back. Reflect, look back and take into thought of what worked and what didn't.

1. First you have you understand the problem. Knowing how you work the problem. What is the unknown? What do you have to solve?
ReplyDelete2. Devising a plan. The connection between the data and the unknown. Could you restate the problem?
3. Carrying out the plan. Checking and revising each step. carring out your plan of the solution.
4. Looking back. Check the result, can you do the problem differently?

I agree pretty much with everyone. I think that their information was just about the same as i found.
ReplyDelete1. Understand the problem. You need to regognize what is being asked.
ReplyDelete2. Devise a plan. You have to respond to what is being asked.
3. Carrying out the plan. You have to develop the answer of your response.
4. Looking back. You have to look back to see what the problem tells you.
http://www.hawaii.edu/suremath/why1Polya.html
1. Understanding the problem- knowing what the question is.
ReplyDelete2. Devising a plan- thinking of what of you are going to do to solve the problem.
3. Carrying out the plan- solving the problem.
4. Looking back- checking if your answers were correct and seeing what your problem tells you.

1 understanding the-Knowing what the question is
ReplyDelete2 Devising a plan you have to respond to what is being asked to solve the problem
3 carrying otu te plan yout have to plan your answer before you do answer
4 looking back to go over your answer to see if you were correct and if not to see where you made the mistake
1.Understand it.
ReplyDelete2.Devise a plan.
3.Carrying out the plan.
4.Looking back at problem.
bdood is Brandon edmonston by the way.
ReplyDelete1.Understand the problem

*Understand the problem
ReplyDeleteknow what you have to do
*Devise a plan
think of a way or how to solve the question
*Carry it out
(self explainitory)
*Lool back/How could it be better

ReplyDelete1. understand the problem (be sure you know what the problem means)
2. devise a plan (create a easy way to find the solution)
3. carry out the plan (follow the plan and find the corect answer)
4. look back (re-create the problem and make sure your answer is correct)
WEBSITE: http://www.education.com/reference/article/five-step-problem-solving-process/
1. Understand the problem (What is the unknown/data/condition?)
ReplyDelete2.Devising a plan (find connection between data and unknown, ect.)
3.Carry ut he plan (carry out the solution, check each step)
4.Looking back (can you check the result?, can you check the argument?)
#1:Understand the problem(read it carefully)
ReplyDelete#2:Devise a plan(find the connection between the data and the unknown)
#3:Carry out the plan
#4:Look back(examine the solution obtained)

1Understanding the Problem What are you trying to find or do?
ReplyDelete2Devising a Plan Examine related problems and determine if the same technique can be applied.
3Carrying out the Plan Implement the strategy in Step 2 and perform any necessary actions or computations.
4Looking Back Determine whether there is another method of finding the solution.
1)Understand the problem at hand.
ReplyDelete2)Come up with a plan.
3)Follow through with your plan.
4)Look back at you plan to make sure it's a good one.
1) Understand the problem. (Read over it.)
ReplyDelete2) Devise a plan. (Find the connection between the data and the unknown. Look for patterns, relate to a previously solved problem or a known formula.)
3) Carry out the plan. (Solve it. Follow through the problem.)
4) Look back. (Check your work read the problem again.)
